Canine Handler Trainee

Stella is a member of Stowe Mountain Rescue and is well versed in the ‘rescue’ of SAR.  She is trained in technical rope rescue and swift water rescue and has taken part in hundreds of missions, carrying injured people out of the backcountry.  As an EMT she is well equipped to deal with any medical issues that might be encountered in the field. In the winter, Stella works on Jay Peak Ski Patrol, delivering first aid and transport to injured skiers and snowboarders.  

Stella and her German Shepherd Mookie spent two years with New England K9 Search and Rescue, training, gaining valuable experience and falling in love with the work. She and Mookie are working on their certification with North Country Search Dogs.
